Conductor and music educator Christopher Nickelson-Mann is the Choral Director at Stoughton High School in Stoughton, Massachusetts. He also serves as the Music Director at the First Congregational Church of Stoughton where his duties include conducting the Chancel Choir and playing the organ. As an advocate for new choral music, he has premiered compositions by numerous composers such as Dominick DiOrio, Forest Pierce, Eric Banks, Dana Wilson, Stephen Bouma, Vahram Sargsyan, Samuel Carl Adams, and Timothy Takach. Additionally, Christopher sings with the professional Boston-based recording ensemble, Vox Futura.
In recent years Christopher has been awarded choral conducting fellowships at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and the Seattle Choral Arts Brahms Symposium and Masterclass. He has conducted at the Providence Institute on Renaissance Music and The Montreal Choral Conducting Masterclass. He has studied conducting in workshops and masterclasses with Simon Carrington, Robert Hollingworth, Eamonn Dougan, Robert Bode, Geoffrey Boers, and Michael Zaugg. Christopher has previously served on the Massachusetts Music Educators Association All-State Concert Committee as the Chorus Manager, working directly with Jerry McCoy.
Christopher earned a BM in music education from Ithaca College where he studied piano with Jennifer Hayghe, voice with Jennifer Kay, and conducting with Janet Galván and Lawrence Doebler. He holds a MM in conducting from Michigan State University where he studied voice with Peter Lightfoot and conducting with David Rayl and Jonathan Reed.
Christopher is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, and the National Association for Music Education.
