In addition to presentations from our distinguished clinicians, Jo-Michael Scheibe and Jay Broeker, our 2017 Summer Conference, located at Smith College, July 16-19, will include 6-8 one-hour interest sessions, tapping the expertise and led by our own Massachusetts ACDA members on a wide range of issues.
We welcome your application to lead a session on a topic of your own choosing. Interest session leaders are not paid – they must register for the Conference, but they will receive a $100 discount. Please submit your application online at 2017 MassACDA Summer Conference Interest Session Proposal Application. The deadline for submissions is February 25, 2017. A committee of MassACDA Board members will review the applications and choose sessions to complement the offerings of our headliner clinicians, sessions which will further stimulate, challenge, and educate our colleagues, and contribute to choral excellence in the Commonwealth and beyond.
As you consider what workshops you might propose, please bear in mind that Dr. Scheibe, Chair of Choral and Sacred Music at the USC Thornton School of Music, will conduct the conference choir and lead a reading session. Jay Broeker will offer a session or two on topics such as: vocal pedagogy/curriculum with young singers (K – treble choir), pedagogy in the choir rehearsal, creative vocal activities (improvisation/composition from K on up), or solfege/rhythmic training for singers of any age.
