Message from Felicia Barber, MassACDA president

Dear Massachusetts ACDA Membership,

I hope that your school year is off to a great start! The Massachusetts board has been active in preparing experiences and events for our membership. We are committed to providing members with professional development opportunities, networking, and support, especially during the COVID 19 pandemic. Many of you participated in the Virtual Summer Conference in August where we focused on the Black lives Matter and Virtual Teaching Strategies. Our High School Choral Festival scheduled for October 15th & 24th will continue the theme of our shared mission issues of equity & justice, as well as mentorship. The event for high school leaders will feature clinician, Dr. Anthony Trecek-King, Director of Choral Activities at the Hartt School of Music. The deadline to register ends next Friday, October 9, 2020, so sign up as soon as possible.

Additionally, we have begun our 2020 Membership Campaign and we are interested in recruiting new teachers to our membership.

Our goal is to appeal to multiple facets of the membership (educators, collegiate, and lifelong) as well as explore many timely topics of equity and justice. Member benefits include not only our conferences, repertoire, mentoring, exclusive publications, & much more! ACDA national membership drive will run from September 15th – November 15th, 2020. This year, our chapter is thrilled to announce two specific membership initiatives.
The first, an Educator Membership Grant is a new initiative to encourage teachers who are not a part of ACDA to join. We are accepting applications to provide a limited amount of one-year paid memberships to ACDA, based on the following criteria:
• New Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) members
• Directors experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19
• First-time joiners from around the state! Click here to apply for a free membership!
The second initiative is for our student members. National ACDA will be providing the annual Student Membership Rate of $5for any student currently enrolled in the middle, high school, or college! Click below to apply.
Refer a friend and encourage educators to join MassACDA today! For more information on the High School Festival as well as the Membership Drive, please check our updated website, at
